Aerospace Engineering – Research Development
Cranfield University, Bedfordshire, UK
Jan 2017 - Present
“Aerodynamic and Structural Analysis of the flight of a Pteranodon” The purpose of this research was to determine the aerodynamic efficiency, stability and loads carried by the structure of 3 different models of wings for Pterosaurs in gliding condition. During this placement AVL, X-Foil and XFLR5 software were used for the aerodynamic analyses and Matlab code for the structural analyses. The research concluded with the selection of the most appropriate approximation of wing model, and therefore, the most likely to have belonged to the winged reptile.
Astronautics & Space Engineering – Research Development
Cranfield University, Bedfordshire, UK
May 2014 - Nov 2014
“Thermal modelling and assessment of high temperature materials and technologies for use in a 100W water resistojet” The purpose of this research was to develop a thermal modelling analysis, using ANSYS Workbench, of emerging concepts for electrical propulsion application into small satellites. It included the construction and testing of a prototype.
Systems Engineer – Research Development
Cranfield University, Bedfordshire, UK
Oct 2013 - April 2014
“ΔDsat a QB50 CubeSat to study rarefied-gas drag modelling” An investigation for the QB50 project. This placement was primarily focused on the development of the requirements and risk analysis, mission analysis and operation design of a CubeSat capable of measuring drag. The research culminated with an industry presentation day and a formal report.
Design Engineer
CNK Engineering (CNK Ingeniería Colombia)
Jan 2013 - August 2013
CNK Engineering is a bespoke engineering design company, which works for freelance clients. During this placement the design and optimisation of an automated cleaning product was developed, which was used in both industrial and commercial properties. It included working closely with the client to develop a range of concepts and carried out this from feasibility assessment into concept selection and detailed design.
Intern – Airworthiness Department
Colombian Army (Ejército Nacional de Colombia)
Jan 2011 - July 2011
The main purpose was the development of an Airworthiness Handbook, in order to certify the fleet of Colombian Army Aircraft. The placement consisted in collecting relevant information and revising several manuals looking for the adaptation of the regulations to the context.
